Louisiana Supreme Court Proposes Amendments to Louisiana Local Court Rules

Act 174 of the 2021 Louisiana Legislature went into effect on Jan. 1, 2022. The Act changes the procedural rules relating to answers and taking default judgments. Art. 1702 of the La. Code of Civil Procedure was amended to eliminate the term “preliminary judgment.”  A summary of the changes to Art. 1702 and the proposed amendments to the district court rules may be found at:
