MARAD Announces Proposal to Revise Rules for the America’s Marine Highway Program (AMHP)

 On January 11, 2017, the Maritime Administration announced in the Federal Register a proposal for rule making and to to revise in full Title 46 Part 393 of the Code of Federal Regulations, which concerns the America’s Marine Highway Program (AMHP). The America’s Marine Highway Program was enacted by Congress to promote short sea shipping by designating routes, also called Marine Highways, as a way to relieve congestion on America’s roads and railways.

Comments must be received on or before March 13, 2017. MARAD will consider comments filed after this date to the extent practicable.
