NTSB Issues Report of Collision CRIMSON GEM Tow with Bulk Carrier YANGTZE AMBITION

The National Transportation Safety Board issued its report of the collision between CRIMSON GEM tow with the moored bulk carrier, YANGTZE AMBITION, which occurred on January 28, 2017. The incident occurred around Ama, Louisiana about 30 miles upriver from New Orleans. The NTSB concluded the probable cause of the incident was the ineffective maneuvering of CRIMSON GEM by the pilot for the prevailing current at the location in the river.
