The Dutra Case is Set for Oral Argument in the United States Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court has set oral argument in “The Dutra Group v. Christopher Batterton” for Monday, March 25, 2019.  Today, Adjunct Professor Don Haycraft filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of Waterways Council, Inc. in support of Petitioner Dutra, arguing that punitive damages would contravene Congress’s intent expressed in the Jones Act to allow compensatory damages only for seamen injured by negligent acts.  Below is a link to Professor Haycraft’s amicus brief:
