Coast Guard Announces Navigation and Inspection Circular Guidance Implementing the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006

On Sept. 19, 2017, the Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register the availability of Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 02–13, Change (1) entitled, ‘‘Guidance Implementing the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.’’ This change incorporates the 2014 amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) related to financial liability for repatriation of seafarers (MLC Regulation 2.5.2) and financial security relating to shipowners’ liability in cases of seafarer injury or death (MLC Regulation 4.2.1)A copy of the announcement may be found following this link:https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2017-09-19/pdf/2017-19894.pdf
