New York State Energy Research and Development Authority Awarded $18.5 Million For Wind Research by Department of Energy

On June 15, 2018, the U.S. Department of Energy announced its award of $18.5 million to the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority for an offshore wind research and development (R&D) consortium. The New York agency will administer the grant. The consortium includes industry, academia, government and other stakeholders. Its purpose is β€œto advance offshore wind plant technologies, develop innovative methods for wind resource and site characterization, and develop advanced technology solutions for installation, operation, maintenance, and supply chain.” Presently, there is only one commercial offshore wind plant in operation in the U.S.The announcement may be found at this link:https://www.energy.gov/eere/wind/articles/department-energy-announces-185-million-offshore-wind-research
